Recent Hauls 9/26/2022

Hello, and welcome back to World Record Bricks! Today I wanted to share some of my recent hauls since the first post.

On Friday September 23rd, I went to my local Barnes and Noble. Now, as Barnes and Noble is primarily a bookstore, their LEGO section is often overlooked. But about a month ago, I noticed when I was there that they had a bunch of sets that had retired either at the end of 2021 or, less commonly, 2020. So, I gradually began buying one of each of those retired sets. My most recent trip, I spent a subtotal of $80 (Combined MSRP), on two City Sets that Retired last year (2021), 60264-1 and 60290-1, which, despite the fact that they were technically slightly cheaper on BrickLink, I would have had to pay shipping in that case, so the cost evens out.

Speaking of BrickLink, I also received a BrickLink order last Saturday, September 24th, containing set 42031-1 Cherry Picker, a Technic set from 2015. This was one of the sets on the first of my two "Priority Lists", which contain the sets that are higher priority purchases. Whereas Priority List 2 consists of sets marked or likely to retire by the end of the current calendar year, Priority List 1 is almost entirely sets that have already retired, mostly consisting of sets on a few of my old Christmas wish lists (This set was on my Christmas list in 2015). It cost $18.95 before shipping, and although the box was not perfect, it was still very good for the price, as original MSRP for the set was $12.99.

Next, I decided to order a larger set from LEGO.com, 10284-1 Camp Nou - FC Barcelona. I am not the biggest fan of Football, or as we call it in the USA, Soccer, but the set was 40% off its original MSRP of $350 due to low demand, so I decided to go ahead and go for it at its sale price of $209.99, since after all, I am going towards a record here. I also ordered 75319-1 Mandalorian Forge for $29.99, but that hasn't arrived yet.

Overall, I would say this was a pretty successful week of purchases. I have also ordered two more sets off Priority List 1 from BrickLink, which I will post about when they arrive. In addition, I only have one more retired set to get from Barnes and Noble, but I'll wait until my next paycheck to do so.

All the sets I have bought since moving into my apartment in mid-August, except for four that I brought from home.

Now the only thing I'll have to worry about is paying off my credit card before Black Friday... Wish me luck!
