Welcome to World Record Bricks!

Hello, and welcome to World Record Bricks, a new LEGO(R) themed blog by Jarod Reichel aka MCAdventureCity. But what is the purpose of this new blog?

World Record Bricks is my goal to chronicle my journey towards growing what I hope to eventually be the world record for the largest LEGO(R) set collection. The current Guinness World Record belongs to Vitalii Solovev of Minsk, Belarus, with a verified total of 5,416 sets as of May 25, 2021. I, however, am currently at a collection of 457 unique sets, according to collection management site Brickset.com. Therefore, I have a long ways to go, so welcome to the journey!

On this blog, I will post pictures of my set hauls and finds, among other collection-related topics such as organization, hopefully around two or three times a week.

Recent Hauls 9/26/2022

 Hello, and welcome back to World Record Bricks! Today I wanted to share some of my recent hauls since the first post. On Friday September 23rd, I went to my local Barnes and Noble. Now, as Barnes and Noble is primarily a bookstore, their LEGO section is often overlooked. But about a month ago, I noticed when I was there that they had a bunch of sets that had retired either at the end of 2021 or, less commonly, 2020. So, I gradually began buying one of each of those retired sets. My most recent trip, I spent a subtotal of $80 (Combined MSRP), on two City Sets that Retired last year (2021), 60264-1 and 60290-1 , which, despite the fact that they were technically  slightly cheaper on BrickLink, I would have had to pay shipping in that case, so the cost evens out.  Speaking of BrickLink, I also received a BrickLink order last Saturday, September 24th, containing set 42031-1 Cherry Picker , a Technic set from 2015. Weekly Hauls 10/10/2022

 Hello everyone, and welcome back to World Record Bricks! Here are my hauls for the week of October 10, 2022. Part I: BrickLink and eBay My BrickLink order for the week was from Bionicle's less profitable successor, Hero Factory. Now, I did not get into the constraction themes until later in Bionicle Gen 1's lifetime, so I ended up with a lot more Hero Factory sets than Bionicle ones. However, there were a few sets from 2010's initial wave I did not get, including 7157-1 Thunder and 7162-1 Rotor, both villain characters in the 2010 storyline. Now, sealed Hero Factory sets are extremely hard to come by these days, so, while I managed to find Thunder on BrickLink for $50 with a dented box, I had to resort to eBay to purchase Rotor, which cost $75. Weekly Hauls 10/17/2022

 Hello everyone, and welcome back to World Record Bricks! Sorry again for the lack of posts, I've been super busy lately. Regardless, here are the Hauls for the week of October 17, 2022. Part I: LEGO.com After returning after visiting some family over my University's fall break, I placed another LEGO.com order, containing more sets that were retiring soon, including the following: 10271-1 Fiat 500 40526-1 Electric Scooters with Charging Dock 60352-1 City Advent Calendar In addition, because I spent over $100, I received the Halloween GWP, 40562-1 Mystic Witch. Part II: BrickLink In addition, I placed two more BrickLink orders, for sets 60019-1 Stunt Plane, costing $22, and 21149-1 Minecraft Alex BigFig with Chicken, costing $28. Part III: eBay Finally, I went on eBay and ordered the final Hero Factory set on the list I call "Priority 1", 7160-1 Drop Ship, which at the time was not available New and Sealed on BrickLink.
